AATCC 30 Test III Assessment of Mildew and Rot Resistance of Textile Materials

Purpose of Test

The AATCC 30 test method may be used to evaluate textile materials for mildew and rot resistance. This method is generally used to substantiate antibacterial properties of treated fabric for non-public health related claims.

Summary of Test

n this method, treated textile samples are placed onto agar plates and are inoculated with a black mold – Aspergillus niger. The samples are incubated and visually exampled for the presence or absence of mold growth. No regulated limits currently exist for general antibacterial claims made using this method.
